More Guns = More Deaths
Some claim that more guns will make us safer. In fact, where there are more guns there are higher rates of gun death and injury. A terrible irony is that both in Canada and internationally where there are more guns there also tends to be more opposition to gun control.
Keeping Kids Safe
Firearms are a significant cause of death and injury in Canada for children under the age of 15 and youth from 15-24. The risks are greater in areas where guns are readily available. Keeping guns away from children and reducing access for youth at risk are a key part of a community safety strategy.
