The Bill stipulates that any weapon that is not to be shot lead, bullet or other projectile will not be covered by Article 86 related to firearms’ transport and storage.
Specifically, anyone in possession of a rifle / gun / compressed air gun will not be subject to storage and transport measurements on firearms as part of the Firearms Act of Canada.
It must be noted that the Association of the Provincial Police of Quebec (APPQ) has emphasized that compressed air guns are not harmless weapons. Indeed, they can cause serious injury, justifying their classification as firearms under the Criminal Code. The Association also pointed out that these weapons are dangerous because they can be confused with more powerful guns in face to face situations.
